Pretend

It is easier to pretend that you are alone
At least you don’t have to deal with expectations
When you are sick just pretend
That you are fine and well
So you that get disappointed when
Someone you love can’t even take care of you

Pretend that you are an only child
So it is easier to take care of your family
Don’t expect help from others
Find a job to feed and sustain your aging parents while finding the time and the strength to give them the care they needs

Pretend that you still have the fight in you
Even everything is simply a losing battle
Act like you are well even all you feel is pain
Believe in make-believe reality where you still can,
Where you still care and still see hope
Even all you want is to give up and spend your last breath
