In My Mailbox: April 22

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by Kristi of The Story Siren and was inspired by Alea of Pop Culture Junkie. This meme is about books that you received or bought during the week.

I originally plan to buy The Atlantis Complex together with the next/final book of the Artemis Fowl series when it become available in the market this July. But when I saw that there’s only one hardbound copy left of The Atlantis Complex on shelf, I instantly add it to my basket during my book shopping. I’ve lost my copy of Girl At Sea and Captivate when I lend them to my friends. They are both lost in the mail. I haven’t read both books so I decided to get another copy again. I’ve been meaning to read any Scott Westerfeld books but I haven’t got the chance, hopefully this copy of Leviathan won’t stay long unread in my TBR pile.

I also bought the special illustrated edition of Angels & Demons by Dan Brown. I love this book! Better than the regular edition. The glossy pictures insides are really pretty. Though the book is quite bulky to carry around.

The Tiny Book Of Tiny Stories is one of the books I left at home before I move to my new place. That’s why it took a while for me to add this in my IMM post. For those who aren’t aware this book is a project of Joseph Gordon-Lewitt. I order this one via book depository and when it arrived I am really surprised how tiny it is. It is really a tiny book, about 6 inches tall which is shorter than the average mass market books. It’s only 80 pages, mostly illustrations in black and white with a sentence or two. I love this book. I enjoy all the tiny illustrations and descriptions inside though it is a bit pricey for a little book. This is only volume one and I think I’m still getting the next volume when it come out.

I just bought a copy of Partials by Dan Wells today when I pass by the book store earlier. I’m not really familiar with this one but the blurb at the back of the book looks good so I decided to buy one.

That’s all for me. What about you, what book(s) did you get in your mailbox this week?

In My Mailbox: Lauren Oliver Signed Books

I haven’t posted any IMM post since what? Two months ago! Maybe you are expecting tons of books right now but honesty I haven’t bought many printed books lately and most of the books I bought for the past months are not with me right now. I left all my books in my room back in my parents home where my library resides. Right now, I’m leaving alone few blocks near my workplace. And one of the many things I haven’t brought with me when I move were my books. But last weekend I got this opportunity to attend a book signing and lunch party with author Lauren Oliver, so definitely I bought all her books for the event. There is a limit of four books per person during the signing but I bring my sister with me since I have few more books that I need to get signed too for my friends. Here are my signed Lauren Oliver books.

I’m planning to go home this coming week for the holiday. Hopefully I can post all the books I bought few weeks ago to my IMM post next Sunday. I got few new titles & some books from my wishlist that I’m excited to show to all of  you. Till then!

In My Mailbox: Fictions & Nonfictions

For this month last In My Mailbox post I’m presenting both fictions and non-fictions books I acquired lately. Most of these books I bought from local bookstores, some I ordered from book depository before holidays but came late like Shatter Me & the Soul Screamers omnibus. There is also a book I won from giveaway, A Little Wanting Song. This book sent by Jayne Fordham of The Australian Bookshelf. I actually won a $15 worth of book(s) from her last giveaway & I decided to get this other book of Cat Crowley. I’ve been meaning to read Cat Crowley’s other works after reading Graffiti Moon last year so I decided to check her books and this one got my interest. I know I will love it because there is music  in it. The Duff is one of the book that included in my to-buy list that I keep on forgetting to buy until I saw a shiny hardbound copy that I can’t resist to add in my cart.

Dan Millman’s Way of the Peaceful Warrior is one of my favorite book and the movie and is also as good so when I saw from the book sale this follow up, Sacred Journey of the Peaceful Warrior I automatically bought it. The copy is fairly bitten and with dedications and notes written inside but as long as the pages are complete and readable I don’t care. The Lucado Inspirational Reader came from book sneeze for review. I honestly didn’t remember that I requested this one, I’m expecting something from Maxwell so I guess my mind is somewhere when I made a request. 🙂

Other than these books I also bought some Kindle books from amazon. Mostly are the new releases that are not available in local book stores and books that I need for the challenges that I joined to. What about the rest of you, what books did you get in your mailbox?

In My Mailbox: January Releases

For this week In My Mailbox post I decided to feature only the books that are recently released. For the fast few days or weeks I’ve been hunting copies of books that will fit for reading challenges that I joined to such as Debut Author Reading Challenge and Contemporary Reading Challenge which all requires books that were released this year. Here are the books I got that can be considered for the reading challenges:

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

Thanks to Louisse for pointing me where to buy a signed copy of John Green‘s latest novel, The Fault In Our Stars. I’ve been waiting for this book since I found out about it. I almost pre-ordered a copy from Book Depository but when I found out that local book stores will be selling a signed edition, I decided to just wait till it become available locally. Which is a right choice since there are some issues that not all pre-ordered books  that were delivered are signed, and waiting orders from book depository will take longer not to mention that there’s no guarantee that the book will arrived in perfect condition due to postage handling . My copy has a purple signature in it, no yeti or hanklerfish doodles. I’m not sure if there were copies with John Green‘s doodles that reached here in Manila. But if I saw one I’ll definitely buy another copy. I want one with the yeti doodle.

Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
The Gathering Storm by Robin Bridges
Cinder (Lunar Chronicles) by Marissa Meyer

I’m also surprised to see these three books above available from local book stores which are all perfectly fit for Debut Reading Challenge. I didn’t expect to see these books to be available here this soon since it is not always that our local book stores get copies of recently released books. I guess our local book stores are improving. I really don’t know what to expect from all these books but I’m excited to read Cinder because of Fiktshun‘s high rating review for this one.

I’ll be posting the other books I acquired in my next IMM post. Some of those books I acquired earlier than these books but since they don’t fit under new releases I decided to separate them. What about the rest of you, what books did you get this week?

In My Mailbox: Signed Edition

Happy New Year!!! First day of 2012 and it’s Sunday which also means it’s time to post our weekly meme, In My Mailbox hosted by  the lovely Kristi from The Story Siren. This week I’ll be posting two special books I got during the past few days.

The hardbound copy of Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick came from Iz. This is the one and only book I received as Christmas present this holiday season. One of the first prints copies released by the publisher that includes the never-before-seen scene of the first time Patch and Nora met from Patch’s point of view. The Name of the Star is a signed ARC paperback copy sent by Sarah of Feeling Fictional. I won the book from her spooktacular giveaway last November and the book arrives just before Christmas. Thank you Iz and Sarah for adding two new lovely books in my collection.

How about you? What books did you get in your mailbox this week? Happy New Year to everyone!!!

In My Mailbox: December 11

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by Kristi of The Story Siren and was inspired by Alea of Pop Culture Junkie. This meme is about books that you received or bought during the week.

Aside from the books I received for Book Bloggers Holiday Swap this week, I also got a bunch of books and swags in my mailbox. I finally got a hardbound of Where She Went by Gayle Forman. I already read this one from my Kindle and since I love this book so much of course I want to own a printed copy too. I am also lucky to be able to get a Collector’s Edition of Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. I didn’t expect that I’ll be able to get a copy of this book locally, particularly the collector’s edition. I thought it will only be available from Barnes and Noble. I almost pre-order it online from them but since I doubt I can’t wait that long for the shipping delivery from US, I opted to get a regular edition locally. Until I saw from Dea‘s tweetpic that the copy she bought from  one of the local book store is a collector’s edition. So I called every book stores near my area and was lucky enough to get a copy that day. Looking For Alaska by John Green is another book I’m excited to read since I enjoy reading John Green novels. Girl At Sea will be the first book of Maureen Johnson that I’ll try.

I also received two books of Sandra Brown, some signed card, bookmark and stickers from her. And below are more swags/bookmarks.and stickers of different book titles. Some of these are from authors and others are from giveaways.

What about you, What books and bookish items did you get in your mailbox this week?
