In My Mailbox: Signed Edition

Happy New Year!!! First day of 2012 and it’s Sunday which also means it’s time to post our weekly meme, In My Mailbox hosted by  the lovely Kristi from The Story Siren. This week I’ll be posting two special books I got during the past few days.

The hardbound copy of Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick came from Iz. This is the one and only book I received as Christmas present this holiday season. One of the first prints copies released by the publisher that includes the never-before-seen scene of the first time Patch and Nora met from Patch’s point of view. The Name of the Star is a signed ARC paperback copy sent by Sarah of Feeling Fictional. I won the book from her spooktacular giveaway last November and the book arrives just before Christmas. Thank you Iz and Sarah for adding two new lovely books in my collection.

How about you? What books did you get in your mailbox this week? Happy New Year to everyone!!!

Aside from the books I received for Book Bloggers Holiday Swap this week, I also got a bunch of books and swags in my mailbox. I finally got a hardbound of Where She Went by Gayle Forman. I already read this one from my Kindle and since I love this book so much of course I want to own a printed copy too. I am also lucky to be able to get a Collector’s Edition of Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. I didn’t expect that I’ll be able to get a copy of this book locally, particularly the collector’s edition. I thought it will only be available from Barnes and Noble. I almost pre-order it online from them but since I doubt I can’t wait that long for the shipping delivery from US, I opted to get a regular edition locally. Until I saw from Dea‘s tweetpic that the copy she bought from  one of the local book store is a collector’s edition. So I called every book stores near my area and was lucky enough to get a copy that day. Looking For Alaska by John Green is another book I’m excited to read since I enjoy reading John Green novels. Girl At Sea will be the first book of Maureen Johnson that I’ll try.

I also received two books of Sandra Brown, some signed card, bookmark and stickers from her. And below are more swags/bookmarks.and stickers of different book titles. Some of these are from authors and others are from giveaways.

What about you, What books and bookish items did you get in your mailbox this week?

Wish List: Shatter Me

Shatter Me is one of the books that I’m eager to get a copy and read. With all the glowing reviews and  recommendations from friends I know I need to read this book as soon as possible. This will be released on  November 15, 2011 in US. Though I’m not expecting to get a copy locally the same day, I’m still hoping to get a copy here so I don’t have to wait longer if I order this one online from book depository. But definitely I’ll get a copy of this no matter what.

Book Description:

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting asThe Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices,Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

Wish List: Blood Bound

I discover Rachel Vincent’s works during the YA Crush Tournament when Rachel of Fiktshun seriously campaign for Tod with all his match. If you join the tourney last month you know what I’m saying. That tourney push me to hunt for a copy of the whole series. I failed to get physical copy of any books locally so I end up getting the Kindle eBooks from amazon instead. I doubt that I can wait for book depository’s delivery as I want to read the whole series right away then. And I’m glad I did get my copies right away because the whole series deliver so well, which also makes me want to own a physical copy of the whole series. But that can wait because for now I am aiming to get Rachel’s latest work, Blood Bound. After enjoying the Soul Screamers series so much, I am excited to explore her other works.

Book Description:

By blood, by word, by magic…

Most can’t touch the power. But Liv Warren is special— a paranormal tracker who follows the scent of blood.

Liv makes her own rules, and the most important one is trust no one.

But when her friend’s daughter goes missing, Liv has no choice but to find the girl. Thanks to a childhood oath, Liv can’t rest until the child is home safe. But that means trusting Cam Caballero, the former lover forbidden to her.

Bound by oath and lost in desire for a man she cannot have, Liv is racing to save the child from a dark criminal underworld where secrets, lies, trauma and danger lurk around every corner…every touch…every kiss.

And more blood will be spilled before it’s over…

Books I Received:

Two lovely books arrived in my mailbox this week from friends. Dead Rules by Randy Russell came from Rachel of Fiktshun. Isn’t the book lovely? When I first saw the  art cover online I know I want to own a copy of this book.  So when Rachel informed me that she’ll send me a copy I almost dance with joy =)  The cover is really gorgeous and based from Rachel’s review I know the inside is also beautiful as the cover.

The Castle in the Pyrenees by Jostein Gaarder came from Tze-Wen of chinoiseries. I won this book from the literary giveaway hop she held on her site.

A HUGE Thank You to Rachel and Tze-Wen for these lovely books.

Books I Bought:

I finally completed the Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater.  I got my copy of the final book, Forever when it was released last July 12 but I can’t read it without reading the first two books. So I finally bought Shiver and Linger this week.  I just want to start the series soon before I lend my copy of Forever to a friend.

Carrie Jones’ Need series is another set I bought together with Linger and Shiver. I got the first three books (Need, Captivate & Entice) in hardbound format. I’m supposed to get Wildefire that night but I can’t find any copy then I saw these lovely covers on shelf. I just can’t leave the book store without them on hand.

These are the books I bought from local bookstore and book depository on sale. After more than a month of waiting some of the books I ordered online finally arrived.

  • Have A Little Faith by Mitch Albom
  • Heist Society by Ally Carter
  • Flawless by Sara Shepard
  • The Enchanted Quest by Frewin Jones
  • The Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell Bartoletti
  • The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

With all these lovely books I got this week plus the existing books in my TBR it is  more hard to decide what to pick up first.

In My Mailbox: July 24

I received three books this week from fellow book bloggers. Calum of The Secret Writer sent me a copy of The Debutante by Kathleen Tessaro. And Lucy of Moonlight Gleam sent Magic Bites & Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews as a gift of RAK for June.

My impulsive self attacked last night, while checking books from amazon I bought the kindle e-books of the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent. I got upto the fourth book and the two novellas: My Soul To Lose, My Soul To Take, My Soul To Save, Reaper, My Soul To Keep, and My Soul To Steal.  I’ve been hunting for a copy of these books for the past few days but I can’t really get any from local book stores. I just can’t wait too long if I order these books from book depository so I decided to get first the e-books. I already finished reading the prequel novella (My Soul To Lose) last night and I plan to start the first book (My Soul To Take) later.
